KITCHEN STORAGE SOLUTIONS

My own, inexpensive storage solution.
Rack available here

When planning storage space in your kitchen, use every inch of the space, think vertically. Pots and pans take on a sculptural quality, when hung from a large rack.

Do you love to cook but are short on storage? Here are some great ideas to make the most of your space.

Utilize the space underneath an island
Open shelving, visually expands a room. These everyday dishes + glasses not only look beautiful, they are very accessible.

I love bringing a free standing piece of furniture into the kitchen or dining area for storage

Quite contrary to an open shelf concept – Hide everything behind a sleek set of doors
This idea is very effective when used along an entire wall.

Turn an armoire into a one stop kitchen shop, tack notes and utensils on bulletin board (made of homasote and linen covered panels)

Consider the details, simple styling reads beautifully in a small space

LOVE – THE WINDSOR SMITH WAY

I am currently smitten with the work of interior designer, Windsor Smith,
she very creatively crafts homes with a unique, blend of classical and modern elements.
Her designs have a sophisticated air but remain extremely inviting.
Windsor’s talents extend beyond interior design, she has also
developed a furniture, rug and fabric line!!

What a statement these red chairs make!

Inspirational Images

I’ve decided to post inspirational images and ideas on Thursdays. Most of us are ready for a mental break at this point in the week, I can’t think of a better reason for some uplifting design lore and lust.

Happy “Thirsty Thursday”

On a personal note, I am in the process of giving my kitchen a much needed but budget friendly face lift. At some point I will revamp the entire space but for now some fresh paint, updated lighting, and window treatments will have to do…

A few inspiring photos from my kitchen “Look Book”.

Two words: Clean + Classic

Met Home: June 2008
My baby liked this one as well, he tried to tear it out of the magazine before I could. The backsplash behind the stove is covered in a rich green penny round tile. The scanned image doesn’t capture it’s luminosity. I love the pendants.. Another fab. Oly Studio item

Met Home
The pickled beams add beautiful depth to this kitchen. The crisp modern elements and the rustic, rough hewn details are so fresh.

Home & Garden: November 2007
Gwyneth Paltrow’s fabulous kitchen. I love the mix of materials and the contrast between the charcoal grey cabinets and the crisp white walls and lighting fixtures.
