Cottage Love #54

Afternoon, lovies!! I’m taking a much needed break from a kitchen design I’m working on. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving the process but needed a little breather from computer drawing.

Today, I’m sharing the Better Homes and Garden feature of Julianne Hough’s adorable home (a.k.a Jules – my nickname too). This incredibly cozy nest is just what the doctor ordered on this frigid snowy day! It doesn’t get much more inviting. And that kitchen??? GAH! If I did not have so many friends and family in New England, I’d move to southern California in a heartbeat!!

Cottage (well sort of) #7

Emma Reddington’s home looks a bit more like a Brownstone then a cottage, but I thought it was “swoon” worthy of my cottage love series! It’s a approachable, casual, chic and a bit off beat. Just how I like ’em….Plus I’m loving all things with a touch of cozy sheepskin or faux fur right now (I used a bit in my photo shoot last week)..must be the Arctic freeze we’re still in. Shelter Loves 11.5.12

1. Shelter loves NYC and the surrounding areas who have been hard hit by Sandy. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! I also love fabulous ladies like MacKenzie from Design Darling who are donating a % of their site proceeds to the Red Cross.
2. It’s getting burrrrrrr chilly up here in Boston. I love relaxing by a grand fireplace and cozy room this time of year. The built in window seats are def. a plus in this space. I proposed the same concept to a client a while back!!
3. Pottery Barn kids Sherpa bean bags. I popped into the store this weekend, it looked so cute with warm faux fur everywhere. I think one of my little ones will be receiving one of these from Santa.
4. Elin Kling’s gorgeous waves. Hmmm I want my hair to look like this!! I think I may need to invest in either a barrel curler or rollers! Thoughts?? All I know is it needs to be an efficient method, I never have much time to fuss with my hair in the am.
5. Camel boots. I’m obsessed with how versatile they are! These are from Chloe and Lucky Brand.

cozy down

It’s the kind of day that I don’t want to get out of bed. I could lounge around the house catching up on my magazine reading in front of a roaring fire with homemade cookies and tea all day. That’s not the case but I wish it was!! I’m with 1/3 of the country experiencing Sandy. Safe wishes to everyone! My fingers are crossed that we don’t lose power! No school, two kids and 0 power = a LONG day!! I”m off to paint my piece of charity furniture, hoping I can keep my cabin fever in check! Have a safe and cozy day.

cozy down

It’s getting chilly round’ here in the a.m.. A sure sign that it’s time to “cozy” down your house. My favorite aspect of design? Is the art of layering. Layering is what creates that “this room looks amazing” moment. Try layering (real or faux) animal print blankets and sheep skins over your sofa, chairs and bed for a layered, comfy, warm hangout spot!
Your furry friend will love you for it too!
