It’s not often that I share two home tours in one week but I rarely come cottage style homes on the internet these days. In our world of “super size me”, it is a treat to discover a smaller home that packs a beautiful punch. This charming cape fits that bill. The mix of white, lucite and brass create a feminine palette for this mother and her three daughters.(although my kiddos would have this place sticky and messy in a heartbeat) Images via: Elle Decor. Hola! With summer quickly approaching, I think we’re all dreaming of weekend get aways with friends and family. The latest beautiful cottage on my radar is also by one of my favorite designers, Sara Gilbane. Her Long Island weekend retreat is filled with bohemian touches, a fun mix of patterns and a playful color palette. All images from Domino.
Although, I am pretty sure Minnie Driver’s Los Angeles home is far from a cottage, it is however a 1940’s ranch style. The approachable rooms and romantic prints make it feel every bit like one. Minnie Driver brought in fellow Brit, Peter Dunham to help her with the interior design. The results are a carefree, kid friendly home with bohemian touches and an exotic mix of textiles and fabrics. Here are some items to bring this look to your own home:
Afternoon, lovies!! I’m taking a much needed break from a kitchen design I’m working on. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving the process but needed a little breather from computer drawing.
Today, I’m sharing the Better Homes and Garden feature of Julianne Hough’s adorable home (a.k.a Jules – my nickname too). This incredibly cozy nest is just what the doctor ordered on this frigid snowy day! It doesn’t get much more inviting. And that kitchen??? GAH! If I did not have so many friends and family in New England, I’d move to southern California in a heartbeat!!
With unexpected color choices, a curated mix of vintage, inherited and modern elements and a nod to mid-century design with a traditional twist, Charlotte Lucas designed a beautiful but approachable home for her family. Charlotte’s unpredictable style speaks to me. She credits her former employer and design maven Barrie Benson with shaping her sensibility and her approach to shopping: “I’ve learned that if I find something I really love, I should buy it now and worry about how I’m going to use it later,” she says. I’m guilty of this very same habit. In fact, sometimes one fabulous piece can be the impetus for an entire design. Charlotte’s work is beautiful. I predict we’ll be seeing quite a bit more of her. Enjoy! Read more about Charlotte’s
