california cool

Stylistically my tastes are sort of all over the place. This mind set affects both my wardrobe and my home selections. I tend to stay very focused while creating and devising concepts for my clients. I of course throw their designs off a bit with unexpected patterns and textures and my client’s actually appreciate being pushed out of their comfort zone a little. (key word being “little”) but for myself, I like to experiment. One day I may feel a little Boston preppy, the next coastal chic, the next slightly bohemian. I think the strongest designs blend a few styles seamlessly. Today I’m feeling California Cool. I read this weekend that January 23rd is supposedly the most depressing day of the year. I’m not sure if that’s true or not but the rainy, raw weather, certainly doesn’t help. No complaints here, I’ll take this winter over last year any day!!
Today I’m drawn to fresh, warm, colorful styles, that use both modern and classic elements. The two homes below are from CA home + design magazine. The first space is by designer Vanessa De Vargas

I’m loving these Ikat throws at the end of the bed!
AND  the second was created by interior designer Chloe Warner

Room of the week – Summer Love

´╗┐

I have an insane couple of days ahead of me! So when I saw this screened in porch with a colorful lounge vibe, I knew I had to post it. I can picture my friends and I sipping cocktails on that sofa! Someday Maybe. Open air and screened in porches are fabulous! I am looking forward to the weekend already!

Paired down Perse..

Every time I leave the sandy Island of Nantucket, I’m ready for a life change. I dream of a casual home, a laid-back lifestyle {think no traffic, no parking meters, no fast food} + and an easy-going but {of course} stylish wardrobe. James Perse‘s paired down style fits the bill nicely.

Talk to me when I return from N.Y.C. and I’ll tell you another story, but for now, I’m content working in my flip-flops and cotton sundresses for the balance of the summer! Happy Monday!

Where I’d like to..

reside {I’m sure I couldn’t resist throwing one simple, graphic pillow on that sofa}

I always love to add a “touch” of glamour, but I’m really drawn to casually chic rooms lately.
I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting older or have a child now, in any case..I crave both fashion and comfort at home and when I get dressed! These rooms are beautifully finished; they each possess just the right amount of ease, sophistication + style!

BEACHY KEEN..

I love the design details of this home, the tiled wall in the kitchen, the unexpected headboard and bedskirt, and the clean mix of materials in the bathroom. Laid back-luxe.

It was such a pleasure to have a taste of warm weather this weekend in Boston, by March I’m sooooo over the doldrums of winter, skiing is fun but in my world, balmy summer days on the beach are even better! I’ve also been craving simplicity lately, so hence today’s post, a combo of both.. Ocean inspired spaces really SPEAK to me!! Enjoy and happy Monday!

Turquoise and coral accents, one of my favorite color combos..

What’s better than dining outdoors?
